Now in its sixth year Plein Air Southwest Salon has become one of the premier events of the Spring. The Outdoor Painters Society sponsors the event to promote an appreciation for the process of painting “en plein air” which is French for “in open air”. Most works are completed in a single painting session, painted outdoors on location and are characterized by the bold use of color, design and the freshness of paint application. Plein Air Southwest Salon 2012 is hosted by Southwest Gallery in Dallas, Texas.

Plein Air Southwest Salon 2012 is a juried competition, show and sale. Participants selected for the show have been carefully chosen by a jury panel. Each artist may submit up to three paintings for consideration by the jury and if the artist participates in the Quick Draw competition their Quick Draw painting will be displayed as well.

About Plein Air Southwest Salon 2012

Born in Rovigno, D’Italy, John moved to California at the age of 11, where he went to college and continues to live today. After several years as a commercial artist and freelance illustrator, John chose to pursue his dream of becoming a plein air painter. John loves to paint directly from nature so he paints outdoors almost every day and many of his paintings are done close to home in San Bernardino, California. John is an award winning artist and much sought after workshop teacher.
